| Event Details: | Caterpillar Inc. will be hosting the October 23, 2008 ISACA Illini Chapter meeting in downtown Peoria. The program will be a facilitated discussion on Information Technology Risk Assessment. Several drivers increase the need for having a clear view on Information Technology
risk:
• ongoing change in information technology,
• increasing business dependence on systems,
• increasing connectivity with stakeholders, and
• greater security and privacy expectations and regulation
The purpose of this session is to discuss methods to identify IT risks, evaluate likelihood and potential impact, and to define and implement strategies to achieve appropriate controls.
Grant Hellwarth from PricewaterhouseCoopers will present an approach, based on several industry frameworks such as COBIT, to establish a baseline discussion and understanding of IT risk assessment processes.
The session will include walking through the risk assessment process for Caterpillar Inc. to provide a real-world look at how a large and successful organization assesses IT risk and responds with risk management and internal audit resources.

Grant Hellwarth is a partner in our Systems and Process Assurance practice and has leadership responsibility for clients and staff in Chicago and Milwaukee. He has over 22 years experience with the firm largely concentrated in the industrial products sector. Grant has led numerous risk assessments; ERP controls reviews, security audits and internal audit engagements. Grant also spent 13 years conducting financial statement audits for multinational corporations in the consumer, technology and industrial products sectors. Grant's international experience includes assignments totaling over 3 years in Egypt and Poland. Grant is a graduate of the Ohio State University.

Mike Zachman is the Director of Caterpillar's IT Audit department with global IT Audit responsibility. Mike also heads Caterpillar's corporate business risk management office, facilitating risk management across the enterprise. He has over 20 years of experience in IT at Caterpillar, having worked in infrastructure support, application development and general IT management positions. Mike's international experience with Caterpillar includes 2 years in Belgium and 3 years in Switzerland. He is a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) as well as Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT). Mike completed his BS in Management Information Systems at Millikin University, and his MBA at Bradley University. He is a current Board member for the Mid-Illini chapter of ISACA. |
